Kimbo doesn't deserve a 'Slice' of the MMA pie

Street fighting legend Kimbo Slice is a mixed martial arts mess. For starters, the YouTube sensation is a terrible grappler with technically flawed hands.

His punches have about as much technique behind them as Charles Barkley's golf swing. His ground game isn't much better. Watching Kimbo jockey for ground position is like watching an elephant try to pull its feet out of quick sand.

Bluntly put, Kimbo Slice is a marginal fighter with limited ability.

With that said, why in the world would an organization like EliteXC put all its hopes on the shoulders of such an incomplete, unimpressive fighter? Why, oh why, would a company with a bleak financial outlook bank on such an underwhelming commodity?

It's a question many inside the MMA community are trying to answer. As Kimbo prepares to fight UFC Hall-of-Famer Ken Shamrock in the featured bout of EliteXC's Oct. 4 card on CBS, many are wondering if the fledgling organization's commitment to the Miami native will ultimately lead to its demise.
